Underpinning theory

Quantum information processing is an area where experiments and applications have quickly emerged from fundamental theory, and where new theoretical ideas can transform the field overnight. The IRC’s fundamental theory programme will include exploring the intrinsic non-locality of operations that can be performed on quantum states, searching for new algorithms that exploit the power of quantum information processing, and devising new ways of securely encoding information through quantum cryptography.
